do you have microsoft security essentials? try to deactivate before updating windows.

is it microsoft service pak 1 for which windows version?

locate the pack that is causing this problem by launching windows update center, and look, in view update history the failed one

Hello, I would run a scan with system file checker.  To do so, try the following instructions:

    -- click on windows orb
-- type cmd in search box
    -- in results, highlight cmd.exe
-- right click on it and select Run as administrator
-- once command prompt opens, type the following:

    sfc /scannow

    -- let scan finish
-- make sure to have your installation disk handy.
