What is mdi064.dll and how can I get rid of this error?

After updating my Windows 8 laptop to win 8.1 I started getting an error, which causes my laptop oto freeze, hang and slow down. The error is:

C:\users\user\appdata\local\temp\random.tmp\mdi064.dll

Please sugget a solution to this error.

    It appears that mdi064.dll is malware. Start your machine in safe mode and scan it with MalwareBytes AntiMalware Free (from https://www.malwarebytes.org/free/) or with SuperAntiSpyware Free (from http://www.superantispyware.com/), as well as with a traditional antivirus.
    It may be that the whole 8 to 8.1 update was infected, in which case you should revert your machine to an earlier stage, or it could just be a separate thing, in which case removing the malware would be enough.

    1) When you open it , click on Options > Filter options> Hide Microsoft entries .
    2) Spend the Logon tab and find the entry that corresponds to the program click on the line and select Delete .

    Open REGEDIT
    Locate these keys on 36bits system :
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER Software Microsoft Windows CurrentVersion Run
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SOFTWARE Microsoft Windows CurrentVersion Run
    If the system is 64 bits, this one also:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SOFTWARE Wow6432Node Microsoft Windows CurrentVersion Run
    On the right of each panel check if there is any reference to mdi064.dll then remove it .

    After this do scan your pc with your security tool, also you can use live antimalware cd, boot on it and scan for infection
