A LAN connection is your own home network, essentially. If your net speed has gone down, it could be anything from faulty equipment to problems on your ISP’s end.

First, make sure people aren’t downloading too much because those speeds are rather poor by today’s standards, and seem more like possible wireless speeds (not internet).

Depending on what ISP and router you have, you can view ADSL stats that tell you your actual speed etc. Line attenuation on this stats list is “noise”, and the higher the dB number, the more noise you have, and the more internet issues you have such as slow speeds on drop outs.

The best bet is to find out what router you are using, and use the manual that comes with it to find those ADSL stats.

You can also see if your ISP has a service status webpage (I know BT has one) to see if there are any reported line issues in that area.

If you meant wireless speeds are dropping, then that can be anything from too many wireless devices, the wireless channel on the router needs changing (something interfering, but channels 1, 6, 11 are the best to use) or even faulty equipment.

Hello .

First of all please check up with your ISP regarding any Capped Bandwith issues on your connection.
What i mean is , there might be faster speeds limited upto certain amount of data usage ( for eg say about first 10 or 20 gigs ) and then the speeds drop down once you reach this limit .

run the Speedtest at Speedtest.net in any browser and verify the results with your ISP as to what you actually pay for !

Other than that , try these steps –
1. Delete All the Junk That Accumulates .
Clearing your cache will take care of a lot of issues.

2.Start Chrome with a clean slate. that is try not to open the previous tabs

3.Close unused tabs and unused extensions .

4.Used a faster DNS service .

try and see .

How are you measuring the bandwidth? Since you are referring to a LAN connection, are you simply moving files from one machine to another on the same network segment? Are you crossing routers or internal firewalls? If you are referring to internet download rates instead, have there been additional restrictions added to the LAN? Is it going through an internal proxy server? Has your ISP throttled the connection for some reason? Have you tried running speedtest?
