Android 4.0 is the next version of Android for smartphones (the Android 3 series was for tablets.)

Here’s an article with a big list of new features in Android 4.0: http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/8-cool-revised-features-android-40-icecream-sandwich/

Android 4.0 is the first Android version optimized for both tablets and smart phones while Android 2.3 is more suitable for smart phones
