Why can’t I log in to Hotmail using Digsby?

Osama Javaid asks:

I have Digsby IM installed on my PC but it can’t login to my Hotmail account even after I add the correct email ID and password. Facebook, Twitter, Gtalk and Yahoo messenger are working fine in it.

Osama, 

Are you able to log into MSN on the web interface? If not, you may be using the wrong password or your account may have been compromised.

It’s important that you use the correct domain for your email when you sign in. If you registered your hotmail with <username>@hotmail.com, then you must use that to sign in and if you used <username>@live.com you must use that. 

When you select ‘advanced’ from the drop down, your server should be muser.messenger.hotmail.com and your port should be 1863.

Hello, you are not the only one with that issue.  Apparently, it started happening since the new changes for hotmail were implemented.

Fixed a bug that caused Hotmail login to fail due to a protocol change which is being rolled out to some users

You might need to delete the offending accounts from Digsby and then go and delete the Digsby profile folder so it recreates it next time you run Digsby
