Can I limit what my friends re-share on Facebook?

Nice asks:

When I post things to my wall like quotes or pictures, the posts often get immediately reposted by friends on their walls through the share option. I would like my friends to be able to view and comment on these items but not be able to share unless I provide them with that option.

Is such an option available on Facebook?

No. There is no such option, one option is to group your friends list into different groups and you can share the post only for them…

Thank you for the reply.

I think this is critical feature because you put in so much effort to get the stuff and make it their own in a sec by repost thru share option open to them :(

How do you get the stuff you do not want re-posted? Many images that circulate on Facebook have the credits right on the image, so no one can “claim it is theirs.”

Hi George!

I got your point. I am not trying to claim such images to be mine. All I am concerned about is, it takes time and effort to search materials and images online. And after doing all that when you post something it so easily gets to others’ wall either thru share option or thru reposting after downloading those images!

This is possible because F.B. does it to all my shares of makeuseof feeds. In the feeds they are set to “public” but when I share to my wall they become “friends” only and I think this only happened recently and only to makeuseof,as I set nearly everything public except my profile. But now all my makeuseof shares do not have a “share” on option.??

Sounds Interesting Wayne!

It will be great if you can provide the steps involved in making this work.

Thank you.

I don’t know how, but it happens to all my shares of makeuseof. After I post there is no share option available, only like or comment, maybe it’s some type of facebook censorship, or something broken which only effects M.U.O. Sorry I can’t help you nice.

No Problem Wayne! Thank you… :)
