June 8, 2011Hello, does it not work in general? or only when using certain applications/programs?

June 9, 2011Restart the laptop and go into the BIOS. There is a setting that will allow you to use the touchpad when a mouse is plugged in. It will say PS2/touchpad. This HAS to be enabled or updated drivers won’t do any good.

June 15, 2011The E1705 is a few years old now. It could be that the button went out on your touchpad. I have an E1505 and see this problem often. EBay has many sellers with parts for these laptops.
