Why won’t my jailbroken iPhone boot after I deleted some Cydia apps?

christer pereira asks:

My iPhone 4 is running iOS 5.0.1. jailbroken. I deleted some Cydia apps via iFile and it asked to reboot, so I did. Now it won’t go past the boot logo. I managed to get into recovery mode and DFU mode but the problem is I think I’ve had an improper jailbreak because I can restore the phone via iTunes. I’ve tried everything. Am I missing something? Or should I just give it to an Apple service center?

may be you can power it up using redsn0w and then put it into DFU mode…

DFU = hold both buttons until the logo goes away, then count to three and release power but keep holding home, count to fifteen. you should have a black screen, connect to iTunes and restore.

Don’t give your phone to Apple service centre as they will know that your phone is out of warranty. If your phone is restored using iTunes, then you can re-jailbreak it properly by following the steps mentioned in the link below -

Hey guys thanks for the advice… Some mod really buggered up my question… Coz I COULD NOT restore via iTunes… But I called apple and they suggested i’ve probably got some 3rd party software interferin wid the iTunes restore on my pc nd they advised me to change to another computer… The restore worked well :)
It was as simple as that but I feared a hardware issue because you know how things behave just as soon as the warranty expires.. My warranty expired 4 days ago :P
But all turned out ok.. Thanks for the advice though :)

Ok so I have the same problem, when I go to back my phone up it’s saying it can’t recognize my phone and to restore it, I’m afraid to do this because I don’t want to loose my information apps etc..but I need to do the software upgrade and just want the stupid jail broke off it already, so do you know if I restore it, will my apps and info be saved still?

Probably because it’s jailbroken. I had the same problem and it took a few factory restores to resolve the issue.
