apple still consider jailbreak as hack to its system but because it is allowed by USA law they only not support the device which has jailbreak on it
Yap, they are allowed but, Apple still make statement that Jailbreak will broke the warranty..

For a good jailbreak,only untethered one is preferable as it’s fully functional without any problems.

November 11, 2012First of all, apple doesn’t release jailbreaks. It is against their policy and jailbreaking the device, voids the warranty of it.
Also a new iOS is availbale now i.e iOS 6.0.1. The jailbreak is available but it is a tethered one. I would recommend you to wait for a month so as to get the untethered one.
