Jay Ruiz asks:
If your power button is jammed and you are trying to jailbreak it without using it, how could you do it? Or can you downgrade it?

August 1, 2012I remember reading that there is a thing in redsn0w that can do it without using the buttons.
Correct. From their blog:
“We’ve gotten a lot of feedback from users who can’t launch a DFU ramdisk because their iPhone home/power buttons are broken or intermittent. We’ve added a new redsn0w feature that lets you enter DFU mode as long as your phone is healthy enough to restore to a normal, everyday IPSW. You don’t need to be already jailbroken to use this method.”
August 2, 2012You do not have to use the DFU ramdisk method though. You can use the restore method though you may lose your content.

August 1, 2012Something such as the power button being jammed shouldn’t be too hard to fix, try taking it to someone who specialises in these kind of things, or try opening it yourself!

August 2, 2012Upgrade to 5.1.1. Then get the latest jailbreak tool, and jailbreak using that. You can JB without the buttons in this tool, then once jailbroken, get activator to create a command that will lock or turn off the device when you do a certain action.
