Why are items in the Thunderbird Address Book not in my Contacts folder?

I’ve got Thunderbird 3.6 as my email client and am switching to another program. I went to export my Contacts, but see that the Contacts folder is empty. Both the Personal and Collected Address Books are filled with ‘contacts’ but don’t show in the Contacts folder. What is it that I don’t know?

If you're indeed using Windows, the profile folder is typically located under > C: (system drive) > Documents and Settings (Windows XP) or Users (Windows Vista and 7) > your user name > App Data (hidden folder) > Thunderbird > Profiles.

However, since you're moving to another program, I would recommend exporting the address book through Thunderbird and then import it using your new Email client. In Thunderbird, go to > Tools > Address Book. In the Address Book, go to > Tools > Export...
