I’m in the market to upgrade an three year old computer. I have an i7 2600k CPU with an ASUS motherboard, but I’m not sure if it’s compatible with the Haswell CPUs and was wondering if there’s an app that can tell me what update works with my motherboard by scanning my hardwares. etc. Thanks!

It's definitely not going to be compatible with your motherboard.Intel keeps on changing its CPU socket every year.

Haswell uses LGA 1150 and Sandy bridge uses LGA 1155.

For RAM, you can use the "System Scanner" option on the Crucial web site (there are various sites for different countries, e.g. http://www.crucial.com for the US, and http://www.crucial.com/uk for the UK). This downloads a small piece of software which does exactly what you want.

As for CPU and Graphics I don't know of any such product, but will be watching this thread avidly to find out if there is one! I suspect there isn't one though - there are too many products and variables out there, and when you add firmware versions to the equation, I can't see how anyone could maintain such a product. Still, I'd be delighted to find out I was wrong on this!
