Part of having a Hackintosh or any number of other fun projects is to do the research and work to make it functional.Otherwise just go buy a computer.

Yes, it is possible, but would take some tweaking. Justin Pot did a great MakeUseOf guide for building a hackintosh that should get you the info you are looking for.

http://www.makeuseof.com/pages/think-different-how-to-build-your-own-hackintosh

To summarize, you would need a Retail copy of OS X, and the iBoot iso. You change your bios setting so that you can boot from the CD, and other settings (in the guide). You then boot up iBoot and when you are prompted eject the iBoot CD and insert OS X install DVD. From here you go through the OS X install setup, which painfully easy. After that you will want to use MultiBeat, which will let you boot up without the iBoot CD every time. This is all in the guide with more detail.

There are more tweaks that can be done, But if you don’t know much about Unix, particularly BSD, I wouldn’t recommend too much tinkering. Also be wary of forums that will give you a quick fix using the “RM” command or something like it… thoroughly research some of these tweaks as they may cause very undesirable results

Also, It is illegal to install OS X on anything besides Apple hardware. It directly forbids it in the Apple End User Agreement that you agree to just by using the software. The feds will not knock down your door, but it is still illegal.

If you have any questions, Please ask.

Sonny,Kyem,Richard all of you thanks a lot for reply. Richard i forget to give my ram size here , I have 1 gb(ddr2) ram. with this ram may be some version will be run slowly so plz can you tell me specifically which version is better for me. in this post http://osx86.co/f36/how-to-make-a-osx-booting-usb-from-t7487/ they said that its possible to install hackitnosh from usb, i want to install iatkos 10.5.5 iso from usb in my pc cause i have no dvd drive. So what ur opinion about iaktos and usb.

Richard Carpenter

Both, iaktos and usb booting, are decent and good options. Iatkos is getting a little old, as most now a days prefer running iBoot and a vanilla copy of OS X.

For you, especially with 1 gb of ram probably need to stick to Leopard for best performance, but Snow Leopard will run. Here is a guide specific for usb boot (generic for any iso), http://greyhead.co.uk/osx86-installer-pc . Basically you download your OS X image and the DD program, which will let you put the bootable image on your USB. If the guide looks deep or too much, Feel free to ask.

I have to tell you that these versions of OS X are illegally pirated and modified. It is hard to tell what they will do sometimes…

Actually, it’s NOT illegal by their definition. It is only illegal in a non-apple branded machine. The technicality is satisfied by placing an apple licensed decal or sticker on your machine in a visible location. No kidding. I took a G31 gigabyte board based machine into a shop that worked on apples (not an apple store) and asked if it was legal. we looked it up together and well, I was right in thinking it was… and how you ask? An apple logo decal on the side of the case.

follow the link provided by Richard. You get everything there… But I don’t think you cannot get the latest lion version (not sure about it). Better you go for snow leopard… It will be the most stable in hackintosh

Richard Carpenter

Lion will install on a hackintosh, but it doesn’t work right on APPLE hardware so… :) I believe that you can even install Mountain Lion DP1 on hackintosh hardware, but there isn’t much support for it yet.

I have used Lion but I didnt get into it yet…. And according to the configuration provided above, I guess leopard will suit the best… What do you think Richard???

Snow Leopard is gennerally prefered, but Leopard is most likely the better choice in this case. Might have trouble finding a retail copy of 10.5 though.

well… Finding a retail copy is Shimul’s choice… But it seems, by his name, he is an Indian Bengali, so do I…. I know the best place to go…. Get it from any of the two ‘Imagine’, City Centre or the best place, go to Chandni Chowk market, Kolkata (place where you get every thing) :-) lolzzzzz….

I did install MAC OS X Lion 10.7.2 on my HP Pavilion Dual Core PC. I even have a video of it uploaded on Youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wX-uGZve-1k . Download iATKos L2 and burn it in a 4.7 GB DVD using Traansmac.

You can’t do this because, it is against the EULA. I’m willing to go thermonuclear war on this.

…Oh and how stable is this running for you guys?

I don’t recommend doing this since this is against Apple’s Terms of Use.
