john bird asks:
My iOmega Screen Play Plus won’t play MP4 files, but it does play AVI files. Is that normal? Can I change my MP4 files to play on the hard drive or can I format the hard drive to play them? Any help would be great.

February 17, 2012It can be because of the codec of video files,
you can convert mp4 to avi
Mp4 files are also supported according to what I read about the player.
convert those file to mp4 and choose xvid or divx codec mp4 or just avi.
Install format factory :
http://format-factory.en.softonic.com/download
Drop the file in format factory window and select all to MP4 (or avi).
You can click on setting and choose from different profiles of codecs,
but the one selected by default also may work.
I have the same problem
Can I update the codec??
March 4, 2012Flopi,
did you try to install or update the codec?

February 17, 2012MP4 is just a container format. What matters is the codec used for the data within which could be MPEG-4, MPEG-2, H264, etc …
The best option probably is to convert those files into “definitely supported” file types as Jay suggested..
