I’m not sure what you mean by Internet Explorer 8 Optimized

In general the Internet Explorer 8 Optimized for xxx is just IE8 with customizations like the Google Toolbar and default search engine, same for Yahoo, Bing & MSN and so on.

If by compatibility problems you mean problems with certain websites or web technologies these won’t change. If the built-in compatibility view (which emulates IE7) doesn’t help you might want to use a different browser.

If you are having problems with Internet Explorer in general like crashes or so they might be fixed by reinstalling it. Despite Windows being available without IE (in Europe) it is part of the system and used for everything that uses web technology so the problem could be very much in a different part of Windows.

Hello, the minimum requirement for installing IE8 on windows xp is having Windows Xp with service pack 2. For installation purposes you do not need to have service pack 3 installed. Keep in mind that if you need/want updates for windows xp, you have to have service pack 3 installed.

Here is a link listing the requirements for installing IE8:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/internet-explorer/products/ie-8/system-requirements

If you are having problems with internet explorer, go to the following link and see if it solves your problems:

If you want to optimize your browser, visit this link and follow the directions:

Also, Have you tried resetting your browser to default settings?, sometimes this is the only step you need to take to make your browser usable again. To do so, follow the steps on the link:
