How do I insert registry keys from purchased software into Windows 7?

I purchased a software when XP was the most evolved operating system from Microsoft. The two keys that came with it, when clicked upon, automatically generated the registration of the product.

In Windows 7, this does not occur. How do I insert such registry keys into the computer’s registry? I can, and have, opened the two keys via notepad. I can copy and paste if need be.

well perhaps the mode of registration is changed, you have to contact the software author to generate a new key compatible Windows 7.
the software perhaps has interface to input the serial, get the serial from the reg key and try to input there.

    or
open regedit then go file and then choose import
