When I try to do video chat on MSN, the only thing they see is a dark screen. I don’t know why, can anyone help?

Hello, then the problem could be either, you are selecting the wrong camera in your options or there is something wrong with the drive.  To check for drivers, go to following link and select your operating system:

    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp?lang=en&cc=ca&prodNameId=4145326&taskId=135&prodTypeId=321957&prodSeriesId=4145198&lang=en&cc=ca

Once drivers are downloaded, run the executable file.

Is your system running windows 7 like the specs show?  If you are, you could try the following:

-- log in with administrator account
-- click on windows key (start) + Pause/Break at same time
    -- click on device manager
-- scroll down until you find entry for camera and expand by using + sign
-- right click on camera entry
    -- select uninstall
    -- restart your system
-- windows 7 should install the generic driver for your camera
    -- try using the camera

    Let me know what happens

Hello, can you try the following:

    -- open messenger
-- on menu click on tools
-- select setup video and audio devices
-- once menu pops up select your default speakers and microphone.  Make sure to pick your video cam sound
    -- click on next
-- select your default webcam....the one included with your laptop should show there
-- click on webcam settings to change more options on camera
-- once all of this is finished, click on finish
-- you should see your webcam image now

Let us know if it works.
