How can I take a video shot on tape, convert it, and upload it to YouTube?

I appreciate the quick responses. I’m a real novice and may have asked the question wrong.

I have an old SONY Digital 8 camera that uses tape. I want to use my Sony camera to shoot my video. Can I take that tape and convert it to a format so I can put it on YouTube? Thank you for your help.

I used something like this – http://www.amazon.com/EASYCAP-Audio-Video-Capture-Adapter/dp/B0019SSSMY (only problem is that you can’t use it on Vista 64-bit). From here, you’ll be able to get an AVI or MOV format (or any other format you want) and then you can simply upload the file to YouTube.

    What You Need

The basic requirements are easy -- a computer and a camcorder or VCR which can play your old videotapes. Other important items you'll need include a device to get the video in and out of your computer (video capture), the software to edit it, and a DVD-burner to copy the video onto DVDs.

Once you have the video converted properly you can upload it to YouTube.

Well you basically need one of these:

Then you play the tape on your camera and can record it on your PC. It's time consuming and the quality isn't going to be anything to brag about. This will work fine!

I personally invest in a half decent digital video recorder that can do 1080p video and it will already be in a format capable of uploading to You Tube. Would save you loads of time!
