How can I remap the power button on my laptop to anything I want?

Well, I’ve just seen this nice trick: http://www.askvg.com/tip-pin-slide-to-shutdown-shortcut-to-windows-8-1-start-screen/
The problem is, can I just remap the power button (it’s a Lenovo E49) to C:\Windows\System32\SlideToShutDown.exe?

Please don't do that. That is a really inefficient idea. There are times when your computer locks up and the ONLY way to shut it down is to hold down the power button for 5 seconds. You'll be sorry if you remap it. :(

What exactly do you mean by "to anything I want"?

The Power button will only control with happens to the power. You cannot remap it to, for example, change tabs or to print a special character.

    1.Go to the Control Panel.
    2.Click Power Options
    3. click Change Plan Settings next to one of the plans
•Stand by •Hibernate •Shut down: if there is an option ask me what to do then perhaps you can do something else.

No, a power button cannot be remapped as its link to the PSU.
