How can I regain access to my Hotmail account?

Vera Vivika Faludi asks:

I cannot access my Hotmail account which I have had for years. When creating a Microsoft password,
I am supposed to copy the contorted letters at the bottom. I never manage to get it right.
The main thing for me is to get hold of my incoming e-mail. Please help.

Is there an option to pronounce the distorted letters instead of reading them? That might help.

The ‘Captcha’ as they are called can be a bloody nuisance when trying to read them. Most have the ability to listen to the letters instead. Try that option.

I have tried filling in the required form. It says that they are having trouble with their server. Then I try again and they say I have tried too many times and try again in 24 hours. What an I supposed to do?
