June 6, 2012You can try downloading and installing Standalone package from the link below -
http://linux.softpedia.com/get/Internet/HTTP-WWW-/Google-Chrome-48046.shtml
While installing,it’ll ask you for administrative password. After that it’ll get installed.

June 6, 2012According to a thread on Google it appears that it’s a problem with the Libraries in Ubuntu 11. http://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/chrome/3GGZgIbIEXk
1. open up a Terminal window
2. type “sudo apt-get -f install” and hit enter
You will be asked your password. Once you enter it all dependencies will be updated.
When this process is finished you should be able to install Chrome using the deb file you downloaded already.

June 6, 2012Dear Arghyadeep,
This is the way I use to install any software on my ubuntu…
First, get connected to internet.
Then, open a Terminal window.
Then, type the following command.
sudo apt-get install google-chrome-stable
Then, you will be asked for the password.
Just type the password and press enter.
Then you will see the terminal installing Google chrome on your Ubuntu 11.04…

June 7, 2012Why don’t you try Chromium from the software center. Chromium is what Google Chrome is based on and uses the same feature set and the same interface. You should still have Chrome sync as well as compatibility with all the add ons and Chrome apps.

June 7, 2012Try going through the Ubuntu Software Center. Whatever version is there should be the correct one for your current version.
