How can I compose email in Gmail using the voice-to-text API of Chrome 25 (beta) as the microphone icon in Gmail compose window is not available?

Is there a blank notepad in the newest beta Chrome browser for composing a message with voice-to-text and then pasting to Gmail compose window? If yes how to access the notepad?

    Great question!

Oweb Voice Input, https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/oweb-voice-input/lffebcpgjecadnkcmdcgklbnphfdjbck, works well with inputting the Email address and title, but refuses to work for the body of the message...that is unless you change from Rich formatting to Plain Text.

Once in plain text, if you click on the microphone, it looks like you can enter in text. The problem is, it looks like Google Chromes API is geared for short burst of text like a web query, so once you input text in with your voice, the microphone goes grey again so you have to click on it once more. There doesn't appear to be a continuous input mode.

Another issue is if you have a signature, the Oweb extension appears to want to stick the text after it, not before where the body normally appears. This even if you deliberately stick the cursor at the beginning of the message.

Also for some reason to toggle the microphone on with a hot key combo Ctl + Shift +., seems to only work for the title, not for the address bar or body in text mode.

I've never heard of anyone trying to do that. If it isn't available it probably won't work. Good luck!
