How can I convert avi files to mp4 for my PSP?

I need to convert some avi files to mp4 that can be played on my PSP. Any easy way to do it?

My PC runs Window XP. I have tried Windows Movie Maker, but I can’t find the mp4 files after converting complete. It seems to be a hard work for me so I searched on Google to find another way to do it. I have found this tutorials for converting avi to mp4, but it needs a 3rd party software to do it and I feel kinda iffy about it. Perhaps a virus?

So can you tell me how to convert avi to mp4 with Windows Movie Maker or another way that is safe? Thanks!

Very few people know that VLC player can be used to convert videos from one format to other. I recommend this as you need not install any other software.
Browse MUO to find how to do that.

I would suggest you Format Factory!
But, as I say to everyone who does a similar question, I would suggest video muxing!
You can use Megui for this! It's a little for advanced level, but you can get great quality, and small file size!

FreeMake, Format Factory, Quick Media Converter HD, etc. would work fine since they have the option to convert to PSP specific format. Although you can convert any file to mp4, it does not guarantee that your PSP would play it, so using a converter with the specific option for PSP and other game system formats to ensure compatibility.

Bobby, if you have installed VLC Media Player in your computer, you can convert your videos to the desired 'PSP format' using it.

It is also given in MUO and you can take help in this page:

Also, you can see many tips and tricks related to VLC as well!

Else, use Any Video Converter Free. If you want more features, you can always buy any of their paid versions as well.

    Hope this would help! :)

WinXDVD.com has software to do this and they are frequently giving away free copies (cannot upgrade though). You can also use Format Factory from http://www.formatoz.com. This one is free. Download them through their official channels and you won't have problems with viruses.
