What are the hardware requirements to run Android 2.2 and 2.3?

I’m planning to buy the Samsung Galaxy 5, which runs Android 2.1. Full specs here. Can it be upgraded to Android 2.2 or 2.3?

The Galaxy 5 can run Android 2.2 . Samsung will release a Firmware update that will take the phone from 2.1 to 2.2, They may already have.
