What is the best free utility to install an operating system virtually within Windows?

Virtual Linux can be a bootable cd so when you boot on it you have a Linux desktop plus included utilities and access to internet.

you have to be sure that when you run a virtual system within windows your processor is capable with virtualization technology nad if it is enabled in BIOS. Parallels Workstation 6 will ask that.

I second Virtualbox. I’m not sure I’d use the term “best” here, but it’s the most fully featured free utility, and works well.
