I would like to write an ebook that would have pics, a store, links, and be secure.

I am using Windows. Can you recommend me good software – free and paid?

Thanks.

Our software called 3D Issue may be of interest to you? The software creates publications in flash and HTML5 which are ideal for creating publications which are full of pictures. The software will allow you to connect with your ecommerce requirement and will detect URL and e-mail addresses and place as hotspots. Security can be placed ‘in front’ of the publications on your servers, this might vary from a simple password protection to more sophisticated DRM solutions.

I don't know about "best", since different people look for different things, but one excellent product that is worth checking out is Serif PagePlus X6. This is a page layout package which is really quite good (less sophisticated than Adobe InDesign, but more than MS Publisher), and can publish the files in various electronic formats including HTML ePub as well as PDF. It's not free (official price is around £80) but there are often special deals, or you could download the free "SE" version, and when you call them to register the product they will offer you a good deal - I got mine for less than £30!

I find Calibre (http://calibre-ebook.com/) works really well. It can create ebooks, and also convert from one format to another. Multi-platform.

Take a looke at EbooksWriter. It looks like it meets your requirements (and then some).
