Girish Sadananda asks:
What are the best free eBook sites? Ideally:
1. eBooks should be free to download
2. Most common formats like .epub and .lit are okay but pdf is most preferred.
3. eBooks should cover relevant subjects and fields, e.g. I am looking for Life Science related books for my Biotech field
4. When you click on download button, you should not be redirected or popups asking for surveys.
5. Has a good user base and forums to dicuss opinions and feedback about eBooks.
Thanks!

October 1, 2012bookboon is also a good choice to download ebooks. However, the best way to get hold of Biotechnology material is to get journals. Most of the journals are free, and cover most of the work that is being done in this field.

October 1, 2012I highly recommend Project Gutenburg (http://www.gutenberg.org/) and The Internet Archive (http://archive.org/details/texts). Public domain only, but if you want free that’s basically your choice.
Of course, there’s always the MakeUseOf collection of tech manuals if you want something to read. As the editor of the project I’m completely unbiased in saying it’s awesome. http://www.makeuseof.com/pages/download

January 31, 2013You should check out http://bookboon.com/, it works for me when I`m looking for educational or business books. All the titles are in pdf format and since they`re written exclusively for the site, they`re also 100% legal.

March 18, 2013Wow, lots of great answers and suggestions here. I love the project gutenburg site for all the classics. Amazing resource that I use all the time. Another idea, one i use everyday, is to sign up an account with amazon, then go to their free book section and set up a RSS feed through Google reader, well now Feedly, then every day you can see the 5 or more free books for the day. You download straight to your Kindle or kindle app. I download all the books that look interesting and they remain in the cloud till I am ready to read them. Since I’ve done this I’ve acquired over a 100 free books. So many options to be legit. Its great
