How can I fix a webcam issue with Sony Vaio VPCCB38FN: C series?

Ashwin Ramesh asks:

I have a Sony C series notebook with a HD web camera powered by “Exmor”. It works, but the webcam gives a blackened image all the time, whether it’s a video or a capture.

I haven’t tried re-installing the drivers as I’m not sure which one to install. There are so many graphic drivers given on the support site (http://www.sony-asia.com/support/product/vpccb38fn).

Could someone advise me on this? Thanks!

try to scan your Sony Notebook with DriverEasy and will download the right version hopefully
http://www.drivereasy.com/

on the site that you mentioned you must choose the right Windows 7 OS and then will propose the drivers

open the device manager and locate your webcam then right click on it and choose uninstall then reboot after that Windows will detecte and install new Webcam driver.

Hi Ashwin.
Have you tried –

1. open your webcam icon
2. on the top right click on webcam settings or Ctrl+W
3. press default near the bottom of the box that appears.
4. then click on camera control tab on the top of the box.
5. Then press default>Apply>then OK!
