How can I fix a runtime error that causes my computer to reboot?

elmstoras asks:

I accidentally downloaded the Babylon toolbar and deleted it. However, after I tried to restart my computer, a Runtime error occurs and it says “This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application’s support team for more information.” and my computer continuously restarts itself at the startup screen and there is nothing I can do.

Any assistance would be kindly appreciated.

on which version of windows you are, is there any other message like c:windows…exe?

use a restore point to go back to earlier state.

boot to safe mode and do a search for babylon with everything.

Perhaps you didnt uninstalled well the toolbar and there are some left overs.
hope everything will work on safe mode.

you can also momentarilly prevent auto reboot

you can also use windows cd and try repair features

Hello, start computer in safe mode by pressing F8.  Once you enter safemode, make sure to scan your computer for malware.  If any is found, get rid of it.

Now, try the following:

– click on start
– click on run (or type msconfig in search box if using vista/windows 7)
– type msconfig
– once msconfig opens, on menu click on startup tab
– remove any entry that refers to babylon or showing name for runtime
– click on apply and then ok
– restart computer

Let me know if error is still there.
