Why does Firefox open when I try to launch Aurora Browser?

Currently, I am using Firefox 7.1 on Windows 7 Ultimate. Everything is fine.

I wanna try Aurora Browser. I downloaded and installed. Launching Aurora opens Firefox. Reading “about” section reveals that I am still running Firefox and not Aurora.

Can someone please help me to install Aurora browser. Thanking in anticipation.

    hello .
    this is happening because ,
in order to run Aurora Build alongside Firefox ,
both need to use  their respective individual profiles .

    meaning ,
there should be a separate profile for Firefox and a separate for Aurora .
else it will not work .

as you have Firefox installed ,launching Aurora will launch the Firefox default profile .

here is what you should try .

uninstall the Aurora for now .

type this in the start search bar , without the quotations
    -- " firefox -P profile_name -no-remote "
    and click enter .

this would launch the Firefox Profile manager .
click on - Create Profile .
rename the profile you want ( like Aurora ) and choose the destination folder .
click create and you are done .

and also uncheck the option " Dont Ask at Start Up " .
we want it to show at start up .!

    [ an important point ,
before creating a new profile and trying the new version ,
its important to backup the existing profile .
you can use Mozback up or Firefox extension - FeBe . ]

after the profile has been created , exit the profile manager .

    now install the Aurora .

after the installation is complete ,
do not click on Launch or Start .
    just exit the installer .

now go to your desktop icon of Aurora and launch it .

this would open up the Profile Manager again .
now click on the newly created profile ( like Aurora we named and created ) and click on Launch .

your Aurora will be ready to go ..!  :)

tell  if it worked or more help needed ....

to launch the Firefox profile manager , you can also type in and enter  --

      firefox.exe -ProfileManager

into the Start Search box .

    Hi Ari,

This is probably a misconception. Aurora still uses the process name "Firefox" as it is just a browser to test upcoming Firefox releases and by all means still looks and acts like Firefox.

    Try launching from here:
    32 bit: C:Program FilesAuroraFirefox.exe
    64 bit: C:Program Files (x86)AuroraFirefox.exe

If that doesn't work, re-install Aurora.
