July 8, 2012Normally when you go into Settings, Wireless and networks, then Tethering and wireless hotspot, when you select hotspot, it should do everything automatically. If you select portable wifi hotspot settings is when it generally asks for that information, but should only be changed if the original settings are not working.

July 9, 2012Usually you need to turn on your wireless from setting menu, some other can be access through network menu. After you turn on your wireless on your device, normally it will automatically scanning for the available wireless network. It will show you many network if exist. Just choose one that have a grant access to you. Thank you.

July 9, 2012Hi Kelly – Are you using a particular hotspot app? It may be requesting your gateway info (your router), but as everyone has pointed out, if your wi-fi is turned on it should all be detected/connected automatically. Are you trying to turn your mobile data connection into a wi-fi hotspot, or are you trying to use your mobile phone as repeater?
