Where can I find information about online game sites?

malinda asks:

Is there a website that will not only list online game sites that are known for wreaking havoc on your PC, but also educate a beginner on what to look for when playing or downloading?

I am not sure I understand the question fully, but I will list a few sites I frequent when gaming. Before, I buy a game, i usually read the game reviews on http://www.gamespot.com. Also, I check out what type of game engine it uses on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_game_engines to see if it has modern graphics, since some new games utilize old out dated graphics. If you play first person shooters, try http://www.quakelive.com, it is a free pnline game and is pretty cool. If, I am going to host my own game, I check out the site http://findports.com/ which will list games and what ports need to be opened.

http://www.gamespot.com – For daily gaming news, reviews and previews.

http://www.ign.com – Another website for daily gaming news, reviews and previews.

http://www.gametrailers.com – As you may have guessed it, this is a good website with lots of game trailers, reviews and previews.

http://www.vgchartz.com – Good website for gaming news and sales statistics.

http://www.gamerankings.com – If you can’t trust one review or rating over another and you want an overall average rating of a game, then this website is for you. It takes the ratings from many different gaming websites and magazines that are highly looked upon in the gaming world and averages it out into one average rating.

store.steampowered.com – PC gaming has been moving closer and closer towards digital download only and Steam is among the most popular programs to handle and store your digitally downloaded games. Think of it as the iTunes of PC gaming.

http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri – A useful little website which will let you know if your computer meets the minimum and recommended system requirements of a certain PC game.
