A base system device driver can be anything, a card reader is the most common. Are you using windows 7 32 bits or 64?
    Drivers for vista 32:

    Drivers for vista 64:

Have you tried Driver Detective? This is a software that finds and updates the drivers for you. This is the easier solution:
    http://www.drivershq.com/

Also, you can use a software like Speccy. Speccy is a free software made by Piriform. Once install, it shows you all the specifications about your computer. It gives you information such as motherboard, cpu, ram, any hardware, etc. It shows you the name and model of any hardware in your system, even hardware that does not have a driver. Download and install speccy and look at all the information, especifically you are looking for any entry showing as unidentified device. write down the name of the manufacturer and what kind of hardware it is and then search for the drivers for it. You could provide the information here and I can look them up for you:

I don't think it's printer driver problem. They are upto date. It is complaining about Base System Device driver. When I click on update driver, it says driver not found and I could not find Base System Device driver for Compaq F700.

Hello, if for some reason you cannot find drivers for windows 7, try using the vista drivers for your version of windows.
