Where do failed delivery notices of mails I never sent come from?

Paul asks:

I intermittently receive e-mails from : detailing delivery failure of e-mails THAT I NEVER SENT. These always seem to coincide with spam.

Any idea what’s going on?

I would also recommend scanning your system for adware/spyware/trojans to make sure that your system is clean.

Spammers often “spoof”, or fake, a sending email address. Since they send such large quantities of spam, it’s understandable that many will be undeliverable. Because the spammer used your email address as the sender, you receive the undeliverable notices. You can just delete them.
