I want Facebook to display updates in chronological order, like it did before the updates. Are there any 3rd party RSS readers that will do this, or even a hidden Facebook option?

October 13, 2011Facebook still displays updates chronologically, it’s just that you have top stories before displaying regular recent stories.
If you do’nt like that appearance ,you can change your lanuage to other than English US & UK.
by clicking here http://goo.gl/Y9B9L or scroll down and find English (US) and click on it to change the language.

November 29, 2011oh, I forgot to update here : you just have to click on sort:recent stories first. and it will show updates normally.
one more option is unmark highlighted stories.
(and use a addon/script/tool only if it is used widely and reviewed harmless by reputed sites
changing language will not work anymore, because it was not applied to other languages in initial stages, but now every language has these settings.)
