My HP620′ laptop speakers are not working, but when I connect my headphones I hear sound. What is causing this? I’m using Windows 7.

January 5, 2012Hello, probably you headphones are set as default output for sound. Make sure to access and check the configuration for your sound software and just make sure default is set to speakers. That model also supports, high definition audio. So besides windows utility for sound, you should have another icon/entry in your taskbar for sound, it could be soundmax, realtek, etc. To check what your default output is, you could try the following:
– right click on sound icon next to clock
– click on volume control options
– make sure there is a checkmark beside Speakers
– click on ok
– righ click on sound icon next to clock
– click on playback devices
– make sure there is a green check next to speakers
– click on speakers to highlight and configuration option and properties should be available
– click on configure
– make sure to select the right setup for your speakers by highlighting it
– click on test (if you hear any sound, your configuration is ok.)
– click next to proceed with configuration and always make sure to test when given the option. When you finish configuration, click on finish to go back to original screen
– click on properties
– make sure under device usage, the use this device (enable) is selected
– click on apply and then ok
