Why is my external hard drive not recognized on one TV but on another?

Maree benson asks:

When I connect my external hard drive to my TV, it says USB loading. Then a message appears ‘USB not connected’.

The hard drive works on another TV and laptop. USB and iPod both work on TV. What’s wrong?

Sounds like your hard disc draws more power than the TV’s USB can provide. If your hard disc can be connected to a power adapter, try it with one.

check also the hard drive size, sometime TV accept only USB keys or hard drives with up to certain size.
