Will this build work? Is the power supply powerful enough? Can the CPU handle the crossfire load? Will this case even fit all of this? Please help! Need to order for son tonight!

    Hello, whenever you are going to install crossfire it will tell you that the minimun power supply needed is 650W.  Your motherboard and power supply can handle crossfire and SLI.  You have to consider that when buying a power supply you have to take into consideration all the hardware you are installing and also future needs.  You have to take into consideration you harddrive/harddrives and also any blueray, cd/dvd, etc. Also make sure to add triple channel memory(DDR3)

      The 750W power supply in this setup should be sufficient for the hardware.

      As for the DDR3 you are wrong. The Core i7-2600K has 2 memory channels therefor you only benefit when using either 2 or 4 modules, not triple channel memory.

        Maybe to be more specific:
        DDR3 is the current standard (previously, DDR and DDR2)Dual- and Triple-channel refers to the way the CPU accesses and utilizes those memory modules. To utilize Triple-channel both the CPU and motherboard need to support it. It's an architecture where your computer can utilize 3 RAM modules in an optimized way to further enhance speed (latency).Dual-channel on the other hand benefits from using paired modules. Actually, some Dual-channel motherboards don't even work when using 3 modules (see compatibility list).

    It will not work unless you add some Memory (DDR3) to it and you probably want to add a SATA Hard Drive for storage too ~ other then that it looks fine.

    As for Memory any known brand will do (e.g. Corsair, OCZ, G.Skill, Kingston). For this setup I suggest to buy a kit with 4GB (2x2GB) or 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3-1600MHz.

    As for the Hard Drive either SATA2 (3Gbit/s) or SATA3 (6Gbit/s) with +500GB. You can easily go for 750GB or 1TB since they are pretty inexpensive.

    to benefit from crossfire first be sure to have a screen of 1920x1200 (or 1920x1080) at minimum.Depending on the type of games you have been able
    to see that an overclocking can be very beneficial as in the case of Far Cry
    2.

    your cpu can handle this crossfire. if you typically spend around $200 on a new CPU then Sandy Bridge is likely a better overclocker than anything you've ever owned before it. The biggest loser in the overclock locks is the Core i3 which now ships completely locked.

    In all but the heaviest threaded applications, Sandy Bridge is the fastest chip on the block—and you get the performance at a fairly reasonable price. The Core i7-2600K is tempting at $317 but the Core i5-2500K is absolutely a steal at $216. You're getting nearly $999 worth of performance at roughly a quarter of the cost. Compared to a Core i5-750/760, you'll get an additional 10-50% performance across the board in existing applications, and all that from a ~25% increase in clock speed. A big portion of what Sandy Bridge delivers is due to architectural enhancements, the type of thing we've come to expect from an Intel tock. Starting with Conroe, repeating with Nehalem, and going strong once more with Sandy Bridge, Intel makes this all seem so very easy.
