Is there a program that will help me to eliminate duplicate photos? This program should not include spyware. The tech person at my local Staples told me that most programs on the internet include spyware. I use Windows Vista.

After selecting folders various options for search may be set such as ‘Same Date’, ‘Same file Name’ and ‘Same Content’ and any combination of these options may be set.
A clever ‘Selection Assistant’ is provided which makes selecting genuine duplicates so much simpler and more accurate.

    Greta,

there is free software out there that contains spyware, but to say that most of it is affected is an exaggeration. Just pay attention when you install software! Sometimes a tool may want to install additional stuff, like a browser search bar. However, it's almost always optional, so you can simply remove a checkmark or skip that step. The key is that you pay attention!

To answer your question, yes there are programs that can do what you're looking for. Saikat wrote an article covering tools that can identify duplicate images on your Windows computer: 5 Ways To Find Duplicate Image Files On Windows PC. Also read the comments to that article as they contain many more suggestions.
