Why is my desktop PC only typing numbers from the alphabetical keyboard?

I have a generic PC computer and my kid started to mess around with all the keys like a frustrated pianist. By the time I got to him, he had changed the letter/numbers settings on my computer. I tried the same keyboard on another computer and it works fine, so I have no idea what he might have done. The only thing I know is that every time I type letters, numbers come out.

I am using the HP Classic keyboard 5187 7583 with Windows XP. Please help!

PS: I have looked for the function key, but this keyboard has none.

    Edward,

were you able to fix the issues with your keyboard? What was wrong with it? Or do you still need help. Please let us know. Thank you!

Make sure "num lock" and "scroll lock" aren't enabled. Try Shift+Scroll Lock or Function + Number Lock. Pressing a function key + another key should help. Your function keys are F1 - F12, I'm sure you have them (:
