Can I delete $NtUninstall files in Windows directory?

Pete Spinetto asks:

There are some 140 folders in my WINDOWS (XP) folder that are named $NtUninstallKB938464 or something similar. Each folder contains more files related to an uninstall function. Are these files and folders important or can I delete them?

In short, yes, you can delete them.

These folders are where uninstallers for updates, patches, and hotfixes. If your computer is running fine with the updates you have installed, it is safe to delete them. However, make sure you have tested it out to make sure there aren’t any updates causing problems first.

Thanks Josh. Thats interesting. My computer is running fine and some of the files we are talking about are pretty old any way. So delete it is.
      Cheers Pete.
