How did I delete my Nokia E71 settings folder and how do I get it back?

I seem to have accidentally deleted (I dont know how I did it) the “Settings” folder in the “Tools” folder in my Nokia E71. I am not able to execute any of the “settings” related functions including network selection, call diversion and so on.

How can I restore this folder without having to reset to original factory settings by using “*#7870#”. I do not want to do it as I have more than 3000 contacts, 1500 notes, a 16 GB memory card full of data and umpteen number of applications installed which I use regularly. I also have all my workplace exchange emails, other POP and all my Yahoo emails in my mobile. I know I can backup all my contents using Nokia Suite but it would be very tedious to restore them after the reset to original factory settings.

Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

    Dear:,

Jay.0: I have tried *#7370# + call button....I get the error "Request not completed" Probably it will not work on my E71

ha14: I have tried copying and pasting from another E71....It does not open the Settings....

LSO: Sorry...Nokia suite is not an option as I would not be able to carry a laptop with me everywhere I go, especially when I want to do some specific "Settings" related functions.

Boni: I hope you read my original message....I do not think re-installation and then restoring the backup is an option available to me.

I appreciate all your comments but unfortunately it has not provided me a solution.

    Hoping to hear more comments.

Just back up all your personal data, and do re installation to the OS(Symbian), it will reapair all the broken apps.

That folder should be hidden by default and you couldn't delete it that easily. Wow.
Umm, if it's in your SD card then you could try Recuva or similar softwares. If it's in your phone do as ha14 said. You might want to re-set everything afterwards.

It it's still doesn't work, you'd have to be content using Nokia Suite. By the way, if you reset factory settings, your SD card will not be harmed.

Use soft reset: *#7370# it will not delete your contacts/messages.
Even restore menu shows two options, one for hard reset and one for soft.

I am not sure about mails, and restoring your backup is not a tedious job but it will be slower when you have large amount of data.
