Hi all, I’m trying to create thumbnail images of the 1st page of numerous PDF files. I’m looking for a solution that offers a speedy way of doing this without having to use some image/screen capture program as I has over 1000 PDF files to do.

Oh and i’m running a Mac, but a Windows solution will work too.

Cheers,

Adam

I generally arrange the PDF files in a separate folder and then open up that folder inside Ubuntu, Select the icon view and customize the zoom level. Ubuntu automatically creates the thumbnails for the first page :)
You can lookup a similar software for Windows or Mac

I found this in a forum (http://ask.metafilter.com/51896/How-do-I-create-a-jpeg-thumbnail-of-a-pdf-file): "Apple's Automator has a "Create Thumbnail Images" action. If it isn't flexible enough, you can chain several Automator actions to do what you want, i.e. Copy Finder Items -> Rename Finder Items -> Change Type of Images -> Scale Images."

But here are four dedicated apps that can automate the task (check out Easy Thumbnails which has a cool batch processing feature): http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/how-to-create-thumbnail-images-from-graphic-files/
