How can I create an animated GIF of 10 photos slowly merging into each other using GIMP or Pain.net?

julien croy asks:

I would like to make one photo using say 10 photos. Each of them would have a 30 second expose. I want to blend them together into one so that they look like a time lapse. Any ideas? The user documentation for GIMP or Paint.net hasn’t helped much.

Another option would be using photoshop layers.. but it’s a little boring, since you have to go through a lot of steps.. Google search for tutorials using photoshop, since I think it’s the best option!

I have used PhotoScape (free) at: http://www.photoscape.org/ps/main/download.php
to create Gifs. Have a look at this video: http://help.photoscape.org/help.php?id=anigif
I hope it works for you.
