I have PS2 with an external USB HDD (modded). I want to copy (or backup) all the USB HDD games to PC. If I connect the USB HDD to my PC then the system says it detects the hardware, but the drive does not appear.

Hello what did you use to backup your ps2 games to the external drive?  The reason why your external is not recognized in windows could be because it is formatted to the ps2 format.  You could try by using software like HD handiness or Winhiip.  You would have to search for them though....It has been a while, do not know if they are still available or not.

Connect it to different usb port.
    or
    Restart the pc,
    or
try to connect it to another pc.

    1) right click on computer and choose manage
    2) if you see the hard drive then right click and choose Change driver letter and paths

also check from that interface if the hard drive status is online, if not right click and choose online
