Hello, without doing anything else, you could try using the zoom function to fill screen. Also if the video downloaded has black bars, make sure to crop them. Once black bars are cropped, resize it to any of the sizes you mentioned above.
you can try other video players and some can achieve what you are looking for.
Format factory has special profiles for apple devices.

Drag and drop the video file and click on settings.
Select all to mobile device > select apple ipod, iphone ipad and select any of the resolutions.
Hello, what size are the videos you are using now? Do they show black bars? If you want to be in the safe side, resize videos to a 4:3 aspect ratio with a size of 320×240.
It also depends on what kind of format you are trying to play in full screen. In older Ipods, If video is formated in MPEG-4 video, the ideal size for full screen would be 480×480 and If it is formatted in H264 format, ideal size for full screen would be to 320×240.
In newer Ipods, if your video is formated in MPEG-4 and H264, ideal size for full screen would be 640×480.
