Can I connect my iPhone 3GS (no data plan) to the internet via Bluetooth from my Windows Phone?

Ryan Wilson asks:

I have an old iPhone 3GS that I still use for an iPod and for a few fitness apps that are not on Windows Phone 7. It would be handy to have internet access on the iPhone. So I was wondering if there is a way to share my Samsung Focus’ internet connection with the iPhone via Bluetooth.

Thanks in advance!

Yes you can do that by using iphone tethering option. it’s possible to connect to the windows phone 7, windows pc etc using tethering by creating a personal hotspot.

You will not be able to do this via bluetooth, but as Subhramanyu mentioned, you can use the wifi tethering capabilities of your Windows phone to create a mobile hot spot.

If you have Windows Mobile version 7.0 or earlier, you may have to either upgrade or find an app that will allow you to tether – however if you have the new version of Windows Mobile – Mango (7.5) – this feature is built in, and can be turned on via your data settings menu.

As Jason says, Windows Phone 7 does not offer Bluetooth tethering, only wifi. Windows Mobile 6.5 and lower had the Bluetooth personal area network (PAN) profile that allowed Bluetooth internet sharing. Microsoft, for some reason, decided that it was not going to be a part of the Windows Phone series phones. You would only be able to use wifi tethering.

You would only be able to use wifi tethering if your phone company hasn’t blocked it until you pay for the tethering upgrade fee.
