Why are chat messages displayed by chatter rather than chronologically in GTalk on my Android phone?

How can I fix issues with my GTalk in Android 2.1.? I am using a Samsung Galaxy 3. The chat messages in the app are displayed as :
Person 1:
Person 1:
Person 1:
me:
me:
me:

They do not appear one after another as in GTalk or chat plugin for GMail.

@Jay Thank you so much. Changing to system time solved the problem. Thanks for taking the time to work out what was wrong.

@8754394f609876cfa94991562dde0b6e:disqus yes there r alternatives and

    one more thing :

set your phone to read time from network

As it is a said time stamp issue
    :

this can happen if the time on your on cell is different.

system time in Android do not provides the seconds, but just the minutes, making it a problemwhen things are sorted by time, Things that belong to the same minute have equal value, so they cannot be sorted properly.so just close gtalk change the time, and then set time to automatic update from network.just a guess.this issue is also called temporary so wait for some time if this does not work.
