Want to change profile name that’s listed as long number, but see no option to do so. Do I need to set up new account?

July 19, 2012Hi 8ee43e….
For now, please access http://www.makeuseof.comwp-admin-profile.php while logged in. This Should allow you to edit your nickname. At some point I will add the ability to do this from the front-end.
Thanks for the link but I’m getting a server error on it so still haven’t got there.

July 19, 2012It depends on how you are signing in. If you are using Facebook to sign. Then you would need to edit your Facebook profile to make the change.

July 20, 2012Sorry, not a solution but would like to add to this question as I have the same problem. I am using an OpenID from myOpenID. I have set a registration persona with my name and also added my name to the identity page, yet the number still remains.
Are you doing the same 8ee43e?

July 20, 2012Like Ron said, it depend on which account you use to log in. If you use facebook then it will follow your name in facebook account, and it is applying to twitter, G+, and other type of account you use to log on. So if you need to change something about your account name in makeuseof, change it in your account you use to log in.
Alright guys, Ron and ferdinan are right. I had an open id in the sign in profile . Once changed it shows up that way. Thanks for all the suggestions and assistance.

September 8, 2012It’s the only reason why I don’t post comments. The name is so annoying.
The site doesn’t seem to work anymore
