Can you recommend a good and fast webhost?

I have a website which is a tech blog with not few images per post.
Now I am getting 3000+ visitors and 5000+ page views per day and it causes my web site load speed to drop because of high traffic.

So my question is,  is Hostgator better than GoDaddy or do I need a VPS?

I currently use WebHostingHub (via MUO's giveaway) which serves my purposes well (but my website is just a personal page with almost no traffic) and have heard good things about Bluehost as well. HostGator is pretty reputable but I have no personal experience with it. If you intend to expand your site and can afford it, I suggest you to use VPS as it will allow greater flexibility.

I use dreamhost. Lots of people like it. My experience with godaddy, which we still also have, is that they are slower to load pages from. I like their tech support though.
